QUALIFICATIONS
Autodidactic painter, born in Matanzas, Cuba. Certified in Drawing, Design and Painting. Specialized in Colorimetry. Recognized for Trompe l’oeil; scenography in Churches. Have taught and completed courses and seminaries and have published a book: “Descubra el Mundo de la Micro Pigmentación” in English and Spanish, distributed by Amazon.
OBJECTIVE
● To reveal my art to the world and especially my community
● Inspire new generations of artists to preserve and reach their dreams, above all to Cuban Exiles.
● With my art I want to fill the hearts of those that contemplate it, of happiness, enthusiasm, color, and love for life; as well as contribute with noble and just causes.
EXPERIENCE 2015-2017:
Expositions and scenography for the scene presentation of Christmas Plays such as: “La Navidad de un Músico” by Luis Bernal Lumpuy; “El Sueño de una Madre, by Clara Martha Cruz (sister of renowned writer Nilo Cruz, Pulitzer Award of “Anita en el Trópico” (New York); Scenography for the play “La Esencia de su Amor” by Pedro Pablo Pérez; Scenography for the play “Los Cuatro Jinetes del Apocalipsis”, by Eva Bermúdez.
2010-2015:
I have collaborated by donating several of my paintings for auction in support of Special Children Camp for kids who depend on technology to live, either by tracheotomy, ventilators, CPAP, or oxygen. The camp is called Dr. Moises Simpser (Ventilation Assisted Children Center Camp).
2007-2010:
I have collaborated by donating my works of art to the Unicef Program (Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia) to which it has been a charity contribution for the whole world. These works of art were auctioned to help numerous children.
2005-2006:
Performed multiple expositions in different hotels of the city of Miami.
2001-2005:
I was called upon by different Baptist Churches of the city of Miami to create various Trompe l’oeil in baptisteries. Producing grand scenography in Baptist Church of Pembroke Pines and Iglesia Resurrección de Miami.
1989-2000:
I revealed my perspectives in Art as a Micro pigmentation y Imagery transformation without fully abandoning my work as a creative painter, revealing and selling my works of art to my enthusiastic followers.
1987-1988:
After graduating from cosmetology, tattoo artist, Micro pigmentation y Colorimetry, I traveled within the United States as well as outside the country to teach seminaries as a Specialist in the Beauty Realm and the Plastic Arts. I worked with Companies such as Shaklee International and Iver Rocher de Paris. I diversified my artistic skills, working for a living aside from being a painter. I instructed conferences and seminars such as: The Influence of Color, The Power of Art, etc.
1986:
By this date I had already displayed various works of arts in Sofitel Hotel and Radisson at Blue Lagoon Miami where I engaged in seminaries and different classes of Colorimetry and season evaluations.
1985:
At this time I found myself instructing plastic art classes at the Human Horizons Institute. I received the grand honor of being invited by the director of Human Horizons, Mrs. Antonieta Horta to display my artwork in the inauguration of the Metrorail de Miami hence donating many of my paintings for charity purposes. For this collaboration I directly received a Certificate of Appreciation from former County mayor, Mr. Stephen Clark .
“La feria de los municipios” served as a boost in which I became known by my and public figures of the Exile. It was then and there that I took my first steps in Channel 17 with the help of directors Peter Bernal y Luis Díaz.
1984:
I reached the city of Miami at the end of this year. I enrolled with the group of Artists called ACCA (Asociación de Críticos y Comentaristas) directed by Mrs. Antonieta Rubio. There, I displayed various works of art and I was awarded on numerous occasions.
1983:
I displayed it in Centro Italo-Venezolano de Valencia, estado de Carabobo. I also displayed my art work this year at La Cámara de Comercio where I acquired an Award and Recognition for my painting “Paz”. Exposition with Mention of Honor Primer Premio en Cosmo Industrial, Maracay, Estado de Aragua. With Connotation in the Critica Nacional y country press at the Banco Mercantil Venezolano and I was recognized by both the Camera of Commerce and the Centre Italo-Venezolano which referenced my art work, in particular my Surrealist art “Paz”.
I traveled various states teaching classes and exposing my works of arts until I left the country in 1984 to the United States.
1982:
I had my first exposition at Centro Italo-Venezolano de Maracay, Estado Aragua.
1981:
I left Cuba to join the exile in Venezuela, Maracay, Estado de Aragua. There, I started as assistant professor of Plastic Arts for children and adolescents at La Casa Cultural.
1980:
I displayed my work at La Casa de la Cultura y Consejo Municipal de Matanzas. About this event, writer Roberto Valero wrote an article admiring my work. In addition, Father Jaime Ortega, reverend of “La Catedral” in that city, supported my exposition at the temple and gave me his blessing
1979:
I was recognized as “Revelación del Año del Instituto René Fraga Moreno” by the renowned professor Horacio Viera recognized and outstanding painter and portrait artist, which encouraged me to set forth in the area of Instructor de las Artes para nuevos talentos de la Provincia de Matanzas (Cuba). At that time, my artwork (different styles) were displayed at the elegant waiting room at the Teatro Sauto de Matanzas, which coincided with the events of zarzuelas cubanas such as El Cafetal, María La O y Cecilia Valdés.
Following this trajectory, as pinnacle of my artistic career, I enrolled at Escuela Vocacional de Arte “San Alejandro” en La Habana. However, my dreams were shattered as I was not admitted for being a Christian Baptist. I suffered through the ideological discrimination from the country’s dictatorship for being a active member at my church and because I had produced paintings of religious nature where Mary Magdalene washed the feet of Jesus with perfume…By this date, at the end of 79 I began to create Trompe l’oeil for different churches like the baptisteries for la Iglesia de Regla and la Iglesia de Catalina de Guines.
1978-1979:
I displayed my artwork in various exhibitions at my native province where I won second prize and Mention of Honor for both of my paintings (Oil, acrylics and stencil). This recognition took place at the Museo de Jovellanos and was awarded by its director, Samuel Martínez.
1975-1977:
I participated in courses of Drawing, Design and painting at the Escuela Vocacional de Artes Plásticas del Municipio de Jovellanos, provincia de Matanzas, under the direction of renowned painter and professor Samuel Martínez.
1974-1975:
I performed expositions at Varadero, Matanzas, Hotel Capri de La Habana, Capitolio Nacional de Cuba, under the counsel of Dr. Edilia Matilde Blanco.
1972-1974:
Exposition of the Museo Histórico de Jovellanos, and exposition en la Casa de la Cultura de Jovellanos, Cárdenas y Carlos Rojas. (All at the province of Matanzas).
