Biography

My life
I was born in the city of Matanzas, also known as the “Athens of Cuba”. Since a young age I had an innate inclination to paint. My paternal grandmother and my parents recognized my artistic gift, and they always supported me.
I wanted to enroll in studies at the school of art, but the fact that my country was under a Communist dictatorship meant that I would be discriminated against for being Christian and not reach these education centers. Fortunately, I had guidance from reverend Rafael Fraguela, baptist pastor with vast knowledge of art. I also had the advantage of counting on the input of the illustrious Matanzas painter Horacio Viera. In summary, I can say that I am autodidactic because even though I could count on their help I could never enter an art school in my country.
Thirsty for liberty and growth I going to Venezuela. There, I had the opportunity of exposing my artistic qualities in the center Italo Venezolano and the Chamber of Commerce in addition to the Cultural Center of Maracay, Aragua State. I was recognized by the newspaper El País and I received honorable mention and first prize for my artwork titled “Paz”.
Sometime after I arrived in the United States where I performed expositions along with the Municipal Council the Group ACCA directed by Josefina Rubio and I worked giving classes to kids along with director Antonieta Dorta. My artwork was displayed in the stations of Metro of the city of Miami receiving recognition from the mayor of the city. I also worked in educational channel 17 in which the directors and producers were Peter Bernal and Luis Diaz.
Multiple artworks of mine were displayed, and I had the opportunity to make trompe l’oeil murals for residencies and churches in different parts of Florida.

Dream what you dare to dream
Go where you want to go
Be what you want to be
Lives! That's my motto

My challenge with cancer produced a pause in the artistic inspiration that helped me produce beautiful paintings. But the experience as a survivor of this disease opened new perspectives and purpose that launched me with a renovated sense to portray in diverse artwork the gift the God gave me and for a reason that only He knows allows me to continue in this world following his plans to give others light, hope, joy, and inspiration.
This is my present, like a dynamic paint brush that targets a positive future in a canvas of love. That is why I share my motto: Dream what you can dare to dream. Go where you want to go. Be what you want to be. Live!
